Para 10 Tajj

Introduction:
Para 10 of the Holy Qur’an, titled “Wa A‘lamu” (وَاعْلَمُوا), begins from Surah Al-Anfal (8:41) and continues till Surah At-Tawbah (9:92). This Para covers vital teachings regarding faith, obedience, jihad, charity, and sincerity in the path of Allah. It addresses both the inner purification of the believers and their external duties in the community and battles.

Main Themes of Para 10

Distribution of Spoils of War (Anfal 8:41):
Allah commands that war gains (booty) must be distributed according to His rules — a fifth share goes to Allah, His Messenger, relatives, orphans, needy, and travelers. This ensures justice and avoids greed among believers.

Obedience to Allah and the Messenger:
Believers are reminded that true success lies in unity and obedience. Arguments, pride, and disobedience weaken the Muslim Ummah. Allah emphasizes patience and steadfastness in facing challenges.

Power and Preparation:
Muslims are instructed to be strong and prepared against enemies — both physically and spiritually. “Prepare against them whatever force you can muster.” This verse teaches the importance of discipline, unity, and moral courage.

Peace and Trust in Allah:
The Qur’an commands believers to accept peace if the enemy inclines towards it. However, their reliance must remain only on Allah, not on worldly means. True believers trust that Allah is sufficient for them.

Brotherhood and Unity of Faith:
Islam establishes the foundation of brotherhood among believers. It teaches that believers are “brothers in faith”, and reconciliation between them is a duty of the community.

Surah At-Tawbah (9:1–92):
This Surah, also called Bara’ah, opens with a declaration of freedom from obligations toward the polytheists who repeatedly broke treaties. Unlike other Surahs, it begins without Bismillah, symbolizing the seriousness of divine warning.

Prohibition of Idol Worship and Polytheism:
The Surah warns idolaters who violated agreements that they will face Allah’s wrath. Only those who repent and accept Islam are safe from punishment.

Command for Struggle (Jihad):
Allah orders the believers to strive in His cause with sincerity — not for fame or worldly reward, but to uphold truth and justice. Hypocrites are exposed for their cowardice and double standards.

The Sacred Months and the Call to Repentance:
The Quran clarifies that the sacred months must be respected. Muslims are urged to repent sincerely and not delay their return to Allah.

Hypocrisy vs. True Faith:
A large part of Surah At-Tawbah focuses on the hypocrisy (nifaq) of certain individuals in Medina. They outwardly claimed Islam but avoided sacrifice. Their excuses for not participating in battles are rejected by Allah.

Examples of True Believers:
The Qur’an highlights those who supported Islam with their wealth and lives. They are promised forgiveness and paradise. Their faith is sincere, their hearts pure, and their devotion complete.

Masjid al-Dirar – The Mosque of Hypocrites:
A group of hypocrites built a mosque to divide the believers and spread mischief. Allah exposed their intentions and commanded the Prophet ﷺ not to pray there. This story teaches that intentions matter more than actions.

Charity and Sacrifice:
Allah praises those who give charity selflessly, while condemning those who give only to show off. The Qur’an declares that true charity purifies the soul.

Repentance of the Three Companions:
The Para ends with the touching story of three companions who failed to join the Battle of Tabuk. After sincere repentance and hardship, Allah forgave them — showing His immense mercy.
