The Iron Wall The Queen Of Egypt Hb Saniyasnain Khan (Goodword) English

Overview of the Book

The Iron Wall / The Queen of Egypt (HB) by Saniyasnain Khan is part of Goodword’s beautifully illustrated Islamic storybooks for children. This hardback edition usually contains two stories in one volume:

The Iron Wall – inspired by the Qur’anic story of Dhul-Qarnayn, a righteous and powerful ruler mentioned in Surah Al-Kahf (18:83–98). He traveled across lands, helped oppressed people, and built a great iron barrier to protect them from the mischief of Gog and Magog (Ya’juj and Ma’juj).

The Queen of Egypt – the story of Asiya (R.A.), the wife of Pharaoh, who despite living in the palace of a tyrant, chose faith in Allah. She protected baby Musa (Moses, A.S.), supported his mission, and is remembered as one of the four greatest women in Islam.

The book presents these two different yet complementary stories—one of power and justice, the other of faith and sacrifice—showing children that both leadership and devotion to Allah are noble paths.

Purpose of the Book

To introduce Qur’anic stories to children in a simple, engaging, and illustrated form.

To show how true leadership is based on justice, protection of the weak, and reliance on Allah.

To inspire children with courage, faith, and moral strength through the example of Asiya, the Queen of Egypt.

To make Qur’anic history accessible and relatable for children, while instilling Islamic values.

Story 1: The Iron Wall (Dhul-Qarnayn)

1. The Great Ruler

Dhul-Qarnayn was a just and powerful ruler whom Allah gave strength, wisdom, and authority. Unlike tyrants, he traveled to different lands to spread justice and help people.

Lesson: True power comes with responsibility, not arrogance.

2. Travels Across the Lands

He traveled from the East to the West, meeting different communities and teaching them about justice, fairness, and faith. Everywhere he went, he acted with kindness and upheld Allah’s commands.

Lesson: A leader should care for all people, not just his own.

3. The Oppressed People

During one of his journeys, Dhul-Qarnayn came across a people who could barely communicate. They complained about the destruction caused by Ya’juj and Ma’juj (Gog and Magog), who spread corruption and harmed them. They asked Dhul-Qarnayn for help, offering money in return.

Lesson: Communities must seek guidance and protection from righteous leaders.

4. The Iron Wall

Dhul-Qarnayn refused their payment but agreed to help for Allah’s sake. He asked them to bring iron blocks, which were stacked between two mountains. Then he poured molten copper over them, forming a massive iron barrier that Gog and Magog could not climb or dig through.

Lesson: Working together under good leadership brings safety and strength.

5. Acknowledgement of Allah’s Power

After building the wall, Dhul-Qarnayn did not boast. Instead, he humbly said that this was a mercy from Allah. He knew that one day, when Allah willed, the barrier would break and Gog and Magog would reappear before the Day of Judgment.

Lesson: Success should lead to humility and gratitude to Allah, not pride.

Story 2: The Queen of Egypt (Asiya, R.A.)

1. Life in the Palace

Asiya, the wife of Pharaoh, lived in wealth and luxury. But she was different from her arrogant husband. She was gentle, kind, and had a pure heart that longed for truth.

Lesson: True honor is not in wealth or status, but in faith.

2. Baby Musa in the River

When Pharaoh ordered the killing of newborn Israelite boys, Allah inspired the mother of Musa (A.S.) to place him in a basket and set him afloat in the river. The basket reached Pharaoh’s palace, where Asiya discovered the baby.

Her heart was filled with love for him. She begged Pharaoh to spare the child, saying, “He will be a comfort to my eyes and yours.” Pharaoh reluctantly agreed, and Musa grew up in the palace under Asiya’s care.

Lesson: Allah’s plans always protect His chosen ones.

3. Asiya’s Faith

Asiya recognized the truth when Musa (A.S.) grew up and declared his Prophethood. She believed in Allah, even though her husband Pharaoh rejected Musa and declared himself a god.

Lesson: Standing for truth requires courage, even in difficult environments.

4. Her Sacrifice

When Pharaoh discovered Asiya’s faith, he became furious and ordered her torture. Despite immense suffering, she never renounced her belief. She prayed:

“My Lord, build for me near You a house in Paradise, and save me from Pharaoh and his deeds, and save me from the wrongdoing people.” (Qur’an 66:11)

Her prayer was answered, and she is honored as one of the four greatest women in Paradise, alongside Maryam (Mary), Khadijah (R.A.), and Fatimah (R.A.).

Lesson: Faith and courage in Allah bring eternal reward.
